Over the past three years, I have witnessed an emerging trend.  Vintage.  Anything and all things old have become all the rage.  The term old has been replaced with vintage.  Antiquing is now cool.    Shopping at estate sales, flea markets and thrift stores is the thing to do.  I think it started in the “green” movement as every one was recycling and repurposing.  Then it simply became hip.  But as the Great Recession hit in 2009, it became necessity in some respects.  And has grown into a form of nostalgia.   To remember times have been tough before but we survived and come through better on the other side.

I was recently shopping in one of my new favorite shops, Patina Green Market, on the McKinney square.   http://www.patinagreenmarket.com/  Luann & Kaci shop Europe and all over to stock their store with wonderful treasures.  The store has an old world European market feel.  As I shopped the vast array of goodies, I was amazed to find myself staring at a collection of silver.  Each beautifully and uniquely patina’d.   It made me think about a time when butlers presented lavish meals on these trays.  EXACTLY!  That is why vintage items are so coveted and treasured right now- to reminesce of a better time, a time of abundance and pleasure.

So go dig in your grandmother’s “junk” and find a treasure that sends you back in time.  A time when there was laughter, joy, wonderful home cooked meals, lots of hugs and love overflowing.  Hopefully, you will discover that those things still exist in your life today.

Best Wishes,
