Today I write about the craftiness that I have been up to for the past several weeks!  First I developed a decor plan for the   Dee Dee Style micro boutique inside of Kiss & Make-Up on the downtown McKinney, TX square.  Black Friday is the start of the Dickens of a Christmas Festivities!  My mom is usually always my side kick and partner in crime on adventures such as this.  She was part of the master mind behind the plan.  Once a plan was hatched, then the craftiness ensued!

Mom and I began our brainstorming with the creation of a center piece focal point.  She had recently acquired a beat up shabby seat-less chair at an estate sale.  We decided this would be a perfect layering piece on top of a round table.  Having no seat, did not create any obstacles for us!  Next was to determine all of the layering elements.  That is what I want to share with you today- the inspiration behind those pieces and the creation of those items.

I knew right off that the color scheme would fit right in with Dee Dee Style- white, cream, aqua blue and lots of burlap!  I also knew that it had to have a vintage feel and have a bit of bling to create that special Christmas effect.  Cue the glitter!!

For the past couple of years, I have seen these precious little houses used in holiday decor.  They are usually white and very glittery.  But I am too much of a do it yourselfer – so off I went to find a paper mache house form.  Hobby Lobby had just what I was looking for.  I painted it first with a pearlized white acrylic paint, then the glitter mayhem ensued!  Let me just say that glitter is addicting!  I LOVE glitter!  I worked on top of newspaper and this helped in the clean up process and also in recycling the unused glitter- just fold the paper and pour back into the jar!

Next came an inspiration from Pinterest.  I pinned a photo of glittered Christmas bulbs a few weeks ago.  This image stuck with me- so fun and a new purpose for a common item!  So I gave it a whirl- SO EASY!!!  You can find the pin on my Dee Dee Style Inspiration Pinterest Board.  Also, the photo is an original source and inspiration from Snowflakes and Dragonflies blog.

The last item had been on my list for a long time.  I have wanted to create these, but never took the time.  Oddly enough, this was a last minute add- but so worth it!  I have seen for weeks, maybe even months photos of burlap pennant flag bunting.  Love this!  Love burlap!  So I decided to Google search a tutorial and found a new idea- adding chalkboard paint stickers  to the burlap to create long term versatility- LOVE it!!!  Of course I had to add my own twist- remember this is last minute, so I had to be resourceful with what I had on hand.

The burlap bunting with the chalkboard paint stickers is an inspiration and source from 52 Mantels.  The spin I put on the burlap bunting is this:   I did not have the chalkboard paint stickers, so I used black foam core board.  The design I cut out was inspired from a wood craft I purchased from Pick Your Plum.  (Note:  if you are not familiar with Pick Your Plum, you have to go check them out!  I learned about them from Inspired by Charm.  Pick Your Plum is a daily craft deal website.  Every day a new deal and once it is gone, it is GONE!)  I LOVE, LOVE the versatility of these- now they can be used for multiple seasons, any combination of word phrases, quotes, and inspiration!
